This week I am featuring a very interesting book. While I am not a movie buff (I don't go to the theater often & I end up seeing great movies long after they're released to DVD) I do love movies & soundtracks. One of the funnier movies that I've seen was "The Big Lebowski". Well this book combines the humor of the movie with the life of an ordinary teenager. OCD, The Dude, and Me by Lauren Roedy Vaughn is set for a March 21, 2013 premier and I for one am excited to see what's in store for us.
With frizzy orange hair, a plus-sized body, sarcastic demeanor, and "unique learning profile," Danielle Levine doesn't fit in even at her alternative high school. While navigating her doomed social life, she writes scathing, self-aware, and sometimes downright raunchy essays for English class. As a result of her unfiltered writing style, she is forced to see the school psychologist and enroll in a "social skills" class. But when she meets Daniel, another social misfit who is obsessed with the cult classic film The Big Lebowski, Danielle's resolve to keep everyone at arm's length starts to crumble.
From Goodreads
I'm looking forward to seeing the movie references in this book. I mean it's one thing to refernce movies & music in passing to give texture to the setting's era, but this book is centered around one movie in particular. If done properly, it'll flow quite well between the main character's voice & that of the movie. If done improperly, you have a poorly timed joke.
Anyone else know anything about this one? Who else has seen "The Big Lebowski"?

I've never see The Big Lebowski but I hope I can still enjoy the fun of this book. I love the idea of a social skills class and have read some good stories featuring that.
