Waiting on Wednesday: Jekel Loves Hyde

Waiting on Wednesday recognizes that we as bookies pine for books. This post is about what I am impatiently waiting for right now. It was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week's selection is Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey and is set to be released May 3, 2010 by Harcourt Children's Books.

Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents’ rules – especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father’s office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she's tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.

To better her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen’s sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill’s accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything – even Tristen’s love – just for the thrill of being… bad.

From Goodreads

So, how could this not be awesome?! With all the "remixes" of classic literature flying around, I think this one will be better suited to what I like. Don't get me wrong, I loved Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and I want to read Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, but this one is different. It's not telling the story again and adding in paranormal elements, it is simply taking the basic idea and applying it to today's world. While I was not thrilled with Fantaskey's last book, Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, I think this one is more suited to my tastes. It has mystery, intrigue, a little romance, and danger. Let's hit it!

So what are you waiting on?
