Waiting on Wednesday: My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi

Waiting on Wednesday recognizes that we as bookies pine for books. This post is about what I am impatiently waiting for right now. It was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This book looks incredibly promising. My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi is set to hit shelves on April 1 and I will be sure to be first on the hold list at my library (if they choose to order it). Just go ahead and check out the summary below to see what I mean.

My Life After Now cover

WHAT NOW?

Lucy just had the worst week ever. Seriously, mega bad. And suddenly, it’s all too much—she wants out. Out of her house, out of her head, out of her life. She wants to be a whole new Lucy. So she does something the old Lucy would never dream of.

And now her life will never be the same. Now, how will she be able to have a boyfriend? What will she tell her friends? How will she face her family? Now, every moment is a precious gift. She never thought being positive could be so negative. But now, everything’s different…because now she’s living with HIV.

From Goodreads

This is one of those gritty books that hits at the heart of a not-often-touched subject. I'll have to take care with this book and read it at a more engrossing pace than many of the other books I tend to fly through. Anyone else gotten a hold of an ARC? Anyone heard anything about this one?

I think this sounds really interesting. For all that we know about STDs, I've never read any books featuring a character with one. I will try to get this at my library too!
