Waiting on Wednesday: Wild Cards (Fullriders #1) by Simone Elkeles

Waiting on Wednesday recognizes that we as bookies pine for books. This post is about what I am impatiently waiting for right now. It was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

While I know I've already read and review this one, I am still really excited for its release! Wild Cards (Fullriders #1) by Simone Elkeles comes out October 1 and is sure to be another smashing hit for her. She really does have a keen ability to portray unique characters. And I love her romantic writing style! Check out what's in store this time.

After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain--people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?

From Goodreads

Derek is pretty awesome & Ashtyn is very spunky. They compliment one another quite well & make for a fun read. What I love best about her work though is that it's not all light and fluffy. Simone gets into the nitty, gritty reality that her characters face and brings them face to face with it. They have to deal with their issues in order to succeed & I think that's a very positive message to send to readers. Do you have a favorite Simone Elkeles book?

What are you waiting on this week?
